Why is the positive terminal of the car battery always covered with a rubber mount?
Did anybody notice that Why is the positive terminal of the car battery always covered?
And it's a Famous Automobile Interview question too,
Today let's talk about a small topic but, it should be known for all for those who don't even know about car batteries, this must be known for all to be safe while operating the battery, No worries I will Explain it!
In the above image, you can see that the positive end is covered with a plastic cover type.
Now, You think for a while Why? What's the reason? It's very simple,
The positive terminal is covered because it is at a higher voltage.
Connect the red terminal to any point in the car (with something conductive) will result in current flowing.
This is to prevent the positive and negative getting in contact with each other during the removal or installation of the battery or handling the battery with other metal tools, When removing the negative terminal, there are some chances for the wrench to touch the positive terminal, which can create a sudden spark emission from the Positive side. So, to avoid this, the positive terminal of the battery is always kept covered with a rubber or some kind of plastic cover.
So, I think you just got an idea about it!
